Parent Tips

Simple ways to support learning at home

These practical reminders help keep homework time calm and focused. Use them as talking points with your child or as guidelines for your family routine.

  1. Keep sessions short. 15–25 minutes of focused work is better than one long, stressful block.
  2. Create a “homework corner”. A small, tidy space with good light, pencils and paper ready.
  3. Praise effort, not only grades. Notice when your child keeps trying, even when something is hard.
  4. Model reading. Let your child see you reading—books, recipes, articles—anything.
  5. Ask open questions. “How did you solve that?” instead of “What mark did you get?”
